Vineyard
tending dates back to the 1800's, but after a slow start (and a serious setback during the Prohibition years), Tennessee wines have seen a booming renaissance
in the last 30 years.
Most recently,
the industry has been awarded gold, silver and bronze regional
and international awards for excellence.
Today, there
are some 20 wineries operating in Tennessee, (like the Countryside
Vineyards in Blountville, Tennessee, tended by Goose the winery
dog, above) but don't get the wrong impression. Tennessee winemakers are getting ripe and ready to compete with world class producers ranging from Napa Valley to Burgundy.
