All about the Bristol Night Race
The party atmosphere at Bristol makes this one of the "one of the best damn races" and one of the hottest tickets in the cup series for late summer excitement.
In 2010, Kyle Busch completed an unprecedented sweep of three NASCAR races - the Truck Series, The Nationwide Series and the Night Race at Bristol - "The Trifecta" making him the first driver in NASCAR history to win all three national touring events in the same weekend.

Danica Patrick, famous Bristol finger wagger.
• At the 1964 race, Richard Petty led 442 laps but broke his car's rear end coming to the white flag. Fred Lorenzen erased a deficit of several laps to take the win.
• In 1995, multiple crashes occurred during the Night Race which was delayed by rain, pushing the finish past midnight. As the race neared the finish, Terry Labonte was spun out by Dale Earnhardt and hit the wall. Labonte drove his wrecked Chevrolet to victory lane.
• In 2012, there were several on-track altercations at Bristol, including a fierce fight for the lead by Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart. Stewart responded by throwing his helmet at Kenseth's hood. Later, Danica Patrick was wrecked by Regan Smith and wagged her finger at him, prompting a blogger to dub the incident "the finger wag of shame". (Patrick later admitted, "I actually flipped him the bird first, but nobody saw that.")
