Ingredients
|
1 lb. ground beef 1 small onion, finely chopped 4 tablespoons chili powder 1 teaspoon ground cumin salt and pepper 1/2 cup tomato sauce 12 leaves lettuce, shredded & cut in narrow strips 3 medium tomatoes, finely chopped 10 oz. shredded Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese 12 Taco shells

Instructions:

1. In large skillet, saute ground beef until browned. Drain fat. Add onion, chili powder, cumin and salt & pepper. 2. Reduce heat, and simmer for a few minutes. Add tomato sauce and cook for a few minutes more. 3. In medium bowl, toss together lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. 4. Heat oven to 350F and warm taco shells. 5. Remove taco shells and fill with meat mixture. Top with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese.

Helpful Hints:

Mix it up a bit and try different sauces and dips to top off your taco! - prepared taco sauce, salsa, sour cream, or guacamole. You can also get create with onions, olives, green peppers or any other salad ingredient. We've even had some experimentation with peanut butter and jelly tacos in our home...not recommended for the post-kindergarten palate!
