Dogs are not
only our best friends, but often an important and much beloved part
of the family. Little wonder, then, why they are also the most
spoiled members of the household!
Pet lovers
think it especially thoughtful if you remember their four-legged
friends, especially around the holidays.
But other
than prepackaged doggy treats, what else can you present to a
dog lover for their pet that means so much to them?
Here are only
a few suggestions for making dog owners happy and appreciative
of your special thoughtfulness:
If the dog is purebred, and you
know the specific dog breed, browse
a local bookstore for related books on special care and training -- or
look for photo calendars with funny and adorable photos that
will remind the giftee of your thoughtfulness all year round.
An annual subscription to a dog magazine is another great dog
lover's gift that will keep on giving in the weeks and months
to come.
Doggy gift
baskets are fun way to get creative by including a grab bag
of treats, toys, or grooming supplies. For miniature breeds,
include popular canine fashion sweaters and t-shirts available
in a variety of styles and colors.
If dog
and owner travel together frequently, consider a gift of pet
supplies including dog carriers, pooper-scoopers, car seats,
blankets, or disposable food and watering bowls available at
pet stores or specialty travel shops.
Snap a
photo of dog and master and transfer the image onto a T-shirt,
or have it printed on a portable coffee mug to give as a gift.
If you're crafty, consider making a money-saving DIY dog gift, such as a custom-made leash rack or rope toy (see related resources, below, for more ideas!)
Still not
sure what to get? Let the dog owner decide with a gift card
or gift certificate available from most big pet store chains,
and even some dog walking or grooming services.
